Enjoy Spring while Benefiting from Value Season Savings

With so many incredible caravanning destinations just waiting to be explored all around Australia, why not take the opportunity to travel in value seasons to enjoy a more relaxed and generally even more affordable holiday!

If you’ve been thinking about getting back in touch with nature and re-energizing for the rest of the working year, the coming months are a perfect time to enjoy a well-earned break.

With Northern Australia a popular winter getaway, and beach locations around Australia enjoyed by many during summer and school holiday periods, with some careful planning there are great advantages of exploring Australia either side of traditional peak caravanning periods. According to consumer research conducted by Caravan, RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) with recent RV purchasers, only 31% of those surveyed said they intended to holiday in off-peak or outside school holidays. Here are a few good reasons why it’s a good idea to travel during the value season:

Affordability. By avoiding peak holiday tariffs, you can potentially save a lot of money.

Less traffic. Enjoy quicker travel times due to the reduced traffic on the road, less crowded beaches, restaurants and other tourist attractions.

Once you reach your destination it’s much easier to move around and a greater range of premium sites and cabins are available meaning an even greater holiday experience.

Tars Bylhouwer, Marketing Manager of Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks, located on the Mid North coast of New South Wales, says that their four Holiday Parks are offering a range of discounted offers and specials from now until mid-December, excluding school holidays. Tars says that the coming months are a great time to visit the beautiful coastal region, “You can swim all year round (at Port Stephens)…when you compare our day temperatures with the Gold Coast, there’s not much difference.”

Tars also recommends popular tourist activities, all within easy distance of Port Stephens, such as whale watching, taking a leisurely bush walk, touring the local wineries and boutique brewery, beach fishing and snorkelling and even beach camel rides! Tars says he likes to drive with his family to the ‘coastal desert wilderness’; a 32 kilometre stretch of sand dunes, and munch on some hot takeaway fish and chips while the kids toboggan down the dunes.

Gerald Searle, manager of Ballina Lakeside Holiday Park, says that as the Queensland and New South Wales school holidays have finished, now is a great time to take advantage of much quieter accommodation and enjoy special discounted rates. “We have several specials running at the moment, including discounted rates for those staying a minimum of four weeks, as well as additional specials for weekly stays,” explains Gerald.

Ballina, located on the North Coast of New South Wales, is a superb destination for a springtime escape, enjoying many days of sunshine and offering lots of activities for the whole family, and with new road infrastructure leading from Brisbane and the Gold Coast and direct flights from interstate Ballina has never been easier to get to.

Russell Drayton, owner of BIG4 Cairns Crystal Cascades Holiday Park, says his pick of all the months to visit Cairns is September, and he’s a local! “The wind calms down, it’s much better out on the reef, there’s no stingers, the days are sunny; the weather is very very nice,” Russell comments. According to Russell, a common misconception is that the tropical North Queensland wet season and high humidity sets in during September, when truly it does not begin until December.

Russell also says that over the coming months, “There is plenty of accommodation availability, so you can have your pick of sites, as well as enjoy reduced prices for powered sites,” says Russell.

So be savvy: spend some time planning your trips for value season times and explore this beautiful country, more affordably and easily!
